
Men's Tennis Falls to Nationally Ranked William & Mary

The Tribe started the match strong, sweeping all three doubles positions to win the team point, led by Geoff Russell and Alex Fish, who shut out ECU's Paulo Baumer/Nick Rose, 8-0, in the No. 2 doubles match. W&M won by identical, 8-4, scores at the other two positions, with Sean Kelleher and Stephen Ward (Douglaston, NY) defeating Charl Meyer/Brad Sullivan and Joe Brooks and Jeff Kader winning over Edward Cooper and Felipe Fonseca.
W&M's success continued in the singles portion of the match, as the Green and Gold dropped just one set in recording six more points. In the top match Kelleher cruised by Meyer, 6-1, 6-1, while Kader defeated Sullivan, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2. At No. 3 Russell defeated Baumer, 6-4, 6-2, and at No. 4 Brooks bounced back after dropping his second set to win over Fonseca, 6-1, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7). Ward won at No. 5, 6-3, 6-4, over Cooper, while Zack Malmgren rounded out the scoring with a 6-2, 6-3, win over Rose in the sixth match.
