
Pirate Swimmers and Divers Defeat Davidson

The Lady Pirate 400 Medley Relay team of Martha Snead, Parker, Meredith Lindgren and Courtney Felker placed first in 3:58.37. ECU's 400 Free relay of Holman, Snead, Felker and Adriene Williams placed first in 3:38.32. Sophomore Lucy Hicks won both diving events for the Lady Pirates winning the 1-meter dive (192.30) and 3-meter dive (211.05).
On the men's side, juniors Casey Cronin and Kelly Hendrick paced the Pirates. Cronin and Hendrick each won two events. Cronin won the 400 IM in 4:12.20 edging out teammates Travis Deckert (4:20.91) and Rob Pearce (4:21.91) as ECU went 1-2-3 in the event. Cronin won the 100 Free in 48:15. Hendrick placed first in the 100 breaststoke (54.22) and also won the 50 free (22.29). Freshman John Cameron claimed the 1000 Free in 10:22.45. Junior Gavin Stark won the 200 Free (1:45.87).
Seniors Kenny Flory and Travis Deckert were ECU's final two individual event winners. Flory won the 100 Butterfly (52.52) while Deckert placed first in the 500 Free (4:52.66). Hendrick, Flory, Cronin and Stark helped ECU claim the 400 Medley relay in 3:33.06. Robbie Derr took the 1-meter dive for the Pirates posting a 258.67.
"We swam very well for being on the road. We had some great swims and were happy with what we did," ECU head coach Rick Kobe said. " Now, we're going to get focus and get ready for our big meet next weekend against Duke and George Washington."
ECU returns home next Saturday to host the Blue Devils and Colonials at 2 p.m. in the Minges Aquatic Center.
