The Lady Pirates improve to 4-2 in dual match play this spring. The match was the spring opener for ASU.
Lyndall Jordan, Raluca Baicu, Kirstin Buchanan, Cristina Meilicke, and Emily Kohl all posted straight set wins in singles play. The Lady Pirates' only loss came at flight three singles, where Paulina Sierpinski, who is still recovering from knee surgery, lost in a tie-breaker to ASU's Elena Berger.
The Lady Pirate doubles pairs of Baicu/Jordan, Buchanan/Sierpinski, and Kohl/Meilicke all cruised to victories.
Meilicke, a sophomore from Asoncion, Paraguay, continues to have the squad's best singles record at 8-1, while Buchanan and Kohl both improve to 8-3 for the 2002-03 season.
The ECU men's and women's tennis teams both had matches scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, against Campbell and Mount Olive. Due to inclement weather, those matches have been rescheduled for a later date. The Lady Pirates' next scheduled match is Wednesday, Feb. 19, at UNC Asheville.
