
Lady Pirate Swimmers Maintain Lead at C-USA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- East Carolina's women's swimming team continues to hold first place while the ECU men are in second following the second day of the Conference USA Championships, being held at IU Natatorium. The Pirates broke three varsity records, one freshman record and one three events during Monday's success.
Diane Parker won the 100-yard butterfly (55.54) taking her second victory of the meet. Parker also set a new varsity record in her 200 free relay section of the 800-free relay (1:51.16).
The 800-free relay team of Diane Parker, Lara Fuller, Holly Williams and Sarah Hunt took second place and set a new ECU record (7:35.68).
The men's 800 free relay team of Casey Cronin, Casey Charles, Dean Cheek and Matt Walker (6:41.62) broke the ECU record that had been standing since 1979. The team also took first place in the event and set a new C-USA record.
Kenny Flory took second place in the 100 breast and set a new record with 56.48.
Sarah Hunt set a new freshman record in the 200 free (1:52.83).
Casey Cronin took first place in the 400 IM (3:57.44). Matt Walker won the 200 free (1:39.70).
The Pirates complete the Conference USA Championships on Tuesday in Indianapolis.
