
Tennis Teams Come Up Short at College of Charleston

The Pirate men's team also fell to the Cougars, 6-1.
ECU's women (12-5), who entered the match having not lost since Feb. 28, won one doubles match and one singles match against the Lady Cougars (15-2). College of Charleston's women won their 15th straight match.
Cristina Meilicke, playing at flight six singles, earned ECU's lone point of the day as she took a 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (9) victory to improve to 17-2 this season. Paulina Sierpinski and Kristin Buchanan teamed up for an 8-6 win at flight two doubles.
The ECU men (8-9) also posted one win in singles and in doubles against the Cougars (10-3). The Pirates entered the contest having won four of their last five outings, but was only able to grab victories at flight two singles, where Charl Meyer posted a straight-set win, and flight three doubles, where Felipe Fonseca and Edward Cooper teamed for a 8-3 victory.
ECU's men are next in action on Friday, Apr. 4, when they travel to Richmond for a 2:30 p.m. matchup. The Lady Pirates return to the ECU Tennis Complex to host UNC Wilmington on Tuesday, Apr. 1, at 2:30 p.m.
