
Pirate Swimming, Diving Fall at Virginia Tech

"We competed very hard and had some real solid swims," ECU head coach Rick Kobe said. "Virginia Tech is a strong team, probably the toughest team on our schedule. We're going to rally the troops and get ready for our home meet Saturday."
Freshman Kate Gordon paced the women's team winning the 200 butterfly in 2:04.98 while teammate Holly Williams finished second in 2:05.04. Gordon also placed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.06.
Jennie Meade won the 500 freestyle in 5:15.15. Meredith Lindgren also took home a first place finish in the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.03.
The 400 medley relay team of Martha Snead, Diane Parker, Lindgren and Williams placed second with a time of 3:58.25. Parker also finished second in the 200 IM swimming a 2:09.48. Snead recorded a second place finish in the 100 freestyle finishing in 53.90.
On the men's side, junior Casey Cronin won the 200 freestyle (1:41.41) and the 200 breaststroke (2:11.12). Sophomore Robbie Derr took 1-meter diving scoring 250.42. Cliff Skudin won the 500 freestyle in 4:54.27 for the Pirates.
ECU now returns home for its final home meet of the season. Both teams will host the University of Maryland-Baltimore County at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Minges Aquatic.
