Diving Opens Up Season in ECU Invitational

DePhillips paced the women's team finishing fourth in 3 meter diving (214.95) and fifth in 1 meter diving (186.52). Lucy Hicks placed fifth in 3 meter diving while sophomore Ashley Gelsomin finished sixth in 1 meter diving (175.57).
On the men's side, Hunt placed third in 3 meter diving (250.57) and fourth in 1 meter diving (228.075). Senior Greg Detwiler was fifth in 1 meter diving (220.20) and 3 meter diving (235.35).
UNC's Lauren Karatanevski won 1 meter and 3 meter diving for the Tar Heels. Karatanevski scored 225.60 in 1 meter diving and 237.15 in 3 meter diving. Ryan Matuszak won 1 meter diving (257.85) for the Tar Heels while Jon Fox placed first in 3 meter diving (268.57) for the Tar Heels.
East Carolina Swimming and Diving teams will both be in action Saturday, Oct. 16 when the Pirates host the College of Charleston at 3 p.m. at the Minges Aquatic Center.
