
Volleyball Falls at Saint Louis, 3-0

Game one was tied 15-15, but the Billikens rattled off seven straight points on Chrissy King's service. King and Aida Antanaviciute had two kills each in the run, and ECU had three hitting errors. The Pirates finally ended the run with a kill, but the Billikens rattled off another 6-0 run. Sutton Lasater served two aces, and Antanaviciute added two more kills. The Billikens closed out the first game by hitting .529, while holding ECU to a .194 hitting percentage.
Saint Louis held a narrow 9-8 lead early in game two, but they scored six of the next seven points to move out to a 15-9 margin. King and Antanaviciute had two kills apiece to fuel the outburst. After an East Carolina point, the Billikens scored three straight as Lasater had a kill and an ace. The Pirates were still down at 18-13 but the Bills closed out the game with a 6-2 run and held on for a 30-22 win.
Game three was tied at 6-6 before Saint Louis took the lead with a 3-0 run. The Billikens had a 12-11 lead, and an Antanaviciute kill was the first of four straight by SLU. A kill by King gave the Billikens a 16-11 advantage, but ECU slowly cut into the lead. The Pirates pulled to 23-21 and eventually trailed by only one at 25-24. However, an ECU hitting error and a kill by Lasater pushed SLU up 27-24. The Billikens closed out the match on King's kill into the middle of the court.
Antanaviciute had 23 kills on 41 swings with just four errors for a .463 kill percentage. King added nine kills with a match-high 15 digs. The Billikens ended the match hitting .381 while holding the Pirates to a .146 hitting percentage. SLU had 12 more digs than East Carolina and finished with 9.0 team blocks.
East Carolina returns home next weekend to host Tulane and Southern Miss. ECU will "Dig for the Cure" against the Golden Eagles next weekend.
