
Bailey and Overcash Reach Semifinals Of Wolfpack Invitational

Bailey opened the tournament with a straight sets victory over Marquette's Francina Bonnelly (6-1, 7-5) and then defeated Kelsey Linville of Davidson in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 10-8). Hayley Rudman of Mississippi State eliminated Bailey in the semis with a 7-6, 6-3 (3) victory.
Overcash advanced to the D2 singles flight semifinals in similar fashion. She opened match play with a three sets victory over Susanna Sjokvist of Western Carolina (5-7, 6-4, 10-7) and defeated Puttman of N.C. A&T (6-0, 6-1) to advance to the semis. After dropping the opening set of the semifinals to Taylor Parker of NC State, Overcash rallied to win the second set, but was then eliminated in the tie-breaker (1-6, 6-4, 7-10).
Freshman Mireia Gol claimed the Pirates only individual title during the Wolfpack Invitational. After dropping an opening round set, she bounced back to win the A2 singles consolation bracket. Gol posted a straight sets victory over Western Carolina's Sarah Shelly (6-4, 7-5).
In doubles play, the teams of Kirsten Buchanan/Gol and Hannah Priest/Overcash each won their opening round match before dropping their quarterfinal contest.
ECU will next compete at the ITA Fall Regional in Winston-Salem beginning on Wednesday.
