
Swimming and Diving Defeats James Madison

"We dominated a very good team today," ECU head swimming coach Rick Kobe said. "I am really excited about the way we swam. I couldn't be any happier with this team."
Senior Diane Parker and freshman Josh Barthlow both set Savage Natatorium pool records in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke respectively. Parker recorded a time of 57.09 and Barthlow won with 50.45.
On the women's side, Parker paced the Pirate women with her record setting win in the 100 butterfly. Freshman Elizabeth-Claire Moore won the 100 backstroke (59.93) while fellow classmate Meghan Pulaski won the 1000 freestyle (10:38.59). Juniors Holly Williams and Courtney Felker also claimed first place finishes. Williams won the 200 IM (2:10:12) and Felker captured the 100 freestyle (53:44). Sophomores Kate Gordon and Jennie Meade completed a sweep of the freestyle events with Gordon winning the 50 (24.89)and Meade the 200 (1:55:72). The 200 medley relay team of Moore, Parker, Gordon and Williams placed first in 1:49.44.
In the diving pool, freshman Christie Icenhower won the one-meter and three-meter dives, scoring a 244.87 and 212.55.
On the men's side, Barthlow paced the Pirate men with his record in the 100 backstroke. Senior Gavin Stark won first place in the 200 freestyle (1:44:21), and the 100 freestyle (46.97). Sophomore Matt Donohue, a Greenville native, won the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.63. Kelly Hendrick won the 50 freestyle (21.69), and Casey Cronin won the 200 IM (1:55:38). The 200 medley relay team of Barthlow, Cronin, Neuville, and Justin Brinkley place first in 1:33:71.
Freshmen Ryan Hunt won the one and three meter diving competion scoring 228.97 and 277.87.
Joe Moore was the lone winner for the Dukes as the Pirates won 25 out of 26 events. Moore won the 1000 freestyle (10:01:82).
East Carolina stays on the road as the Pirates travel to George Mason tomorrow at 1 p.m.
