
ECU Swimming and Diving Defeats George Mason

"We really swam well today," said ECU head swimming coach Rick Kobe. "We really dominated a good George Mason team. I'm very excited to be 4-0 at this point of the season."
On the women's side, freshman Meghan Pulaski paced the Pirate women winning first place in the 1,000 freestyle (10:34.67) and the 500 freestyle (5:07.89). Seniors Diane Parker, Martha Snead and Lindsay Holman each won their events. Parker in the 200 IM (2:08.43), Snead in the 100 freestyle (53.78), and Holman in the 50 freestyle (24:61). Sophomore Jennie Meade completed the freestyle sweep in the 200 (1:55.93). Junior Holly Williams took first in the 200 butterfly (2:05.70) and freshman Elizabeth-Claire Moore won the 200 backstroke (2:08.20). The 400 medley relay team of Moore, Parker, Kate Gordon and Courtney Felker placed first in 3:56:89.
In the diving pool, freshman Christie Icenhower won the one-meter, scoring 258.81.
On the men's side, senior Gavin Stark paced the Pirate men in the freestyle events winning the 100 (47:31) and 200 (1:43:32) freestyle for second consecutive meet. Senior, Casey Cronin won the 200 IM (1:53:48) and the 200 breaststroke (2:08.32), while freshman Josh Barthlow and senior Justin Brinkley won both of their events. Barthlow won the 200 backstroke (1:53.09) and Brinkley won the 50 free (21:48). The 400 medley relay team of Barthlow, Cronin, Matt Donohue, and Josh Curnutte placed first (3:28:68). The 400 freestyle relay team of Greg Neville, Kelly Hendrick, Curnutte, and Stark also finished first in 3:09.88. Freshman Ryan Hunt won the one meter diving competition scoring 264.29.
George Mason's most successful swimmer was Tom Koucheravy, winning the 1,000 freestyle (9:51.51) and the 500 freestyle (4:38.51).
George Mason Divers, Liz Gabriel and John Appleman won in the three meter diving event for the Patriots.
East Carolina returns to action next Saturday when the Pirates travel to Durham to take on Duke at 2 p.m.
