
ECU's Millican Leads Waterlefe Invitational After Two Rounds

BRADENTON, FL. ? Junior Adrienne Millican posted a second round one over-par 73 to move into first place of the Waterlefe Invitational on Monday. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 5,987-yard course at the Waterlefe Golf Club.
After first round action early Monday, Millican was sitting in third place just three stokes behind the leader Nikki Hadd of Ole Miss. But when the dust settled Monday evening, Millican found herself all alone in first with a two shot lead (73-73=146), heading into the final round on Tuesday.
UNC Wilmington's Audrey Gale is currently in second place (75-73=148) after also recording a one over-par 73 second round. There are three players sitting in third, just three strokes behind Millican, Miami's Tina Miller (73-76), Louisville's Katie Tewell (76-73), and Georgia State's Lisabeth Meincke (78-71).
Fellow Pirate Heidi Helliesen shot a 2004 tournament low two under-par 70, and made the largest move of the day to 11th place (81-70=151). After first round action she was tied for 52nd.
The Lady Pirates (72-27-1) as a team are in third place (306-308=614) and seven strokes behind the Hurricanes (291-316=607). Ole Miss is in second place after posting a second round best score of 302 (608). Louisville (306-309=615) and College of Charleston (313-308=621) round out the top five.
ECU is one of 15 teams participating in this year's tournament along with: Miami (Fla.), Mississippi, Louisville, Campbell, UCF, Kentucky, College of Charleston, UNC Wilmington, Southern Miss, USF, Mississippi State, Florida International, Georgia State, and UAB.
Final round action will begin Tuesday morning.
