
Softball Piles On Runs To Win Twice Saturday

The Pirates opened the day by rolling over St. Francis, 21-0. Four of ECU's 21 runs came off one swing by Kate Manuse as she hit her first grand slam of the year. Manuse finished the game 2-for-3 with six RBIs, three runs, and a double. Dany'ele and Lacassa each recorded three hits and scored two runs. Lacassa also drove in a trio of runs.
Game two against Marist was much more competitive with ECU winning by a final score of 5-0. The Pirates collected a total of 10 hits against Marist, including four-run scoring doubles. Krista Jessup drove in a pair with a two-run double, while Andiey Acosta and Shirley Burleson each recorded an RBI-double. Acosta and Leigh Savoy each collected two hits.
ECU received two outstanding pitching performances. Maggie Lingo tossed a one-hit shutout in the opener against St. Francis and struck out five. Keli Harrell tossed a complete-game, five-hit shut out in game two with five strikeouts against Marist.
The Pirates will continue competition at the GMU Patriot Classic Sunday against St. Francis. The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
