GREENVILLE, N.C. – Anna Sawyer, Julia Apostolakos, Trinity Nichols, Gabby Fowler and Jenna Krol have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team according to an announcement by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
This marks the second straight season that the Pirates have placed five on the academic all-district team.
Sawyer graduated from East Carolina with a communication degree and a 3.58 GPA while finishing her softball career ninth all-time in Pirate softball history in career hits with 196 and top five with 41 career doubles. She slashed numbers of .316/.480/.406 at the plate on the season and hit the two-run walk-off home run to send ECU to the semifinals of the American Softball Championship for the second straight season and eventually its first championship game appearance as a member of the American.

She recorded 12 complete games, three shutouts and three saves and tossed a career-high eight strikeouts in back-to-back games in the conference tournament.
