GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina junior outfielder Kanisha Anderson has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Mid-Atlantic Third Team as the organization announced its full list of all-region teams on Thursday afternoon.
Anderson's nod to the all-region team marks the second time in the last three years that the Pirates have had at least one player on an NFCA All-Region Team.
The Menifee, Calif. native led the way at the plate as the table setter for the Pirates' offense with team highs in batting average (.374), hits (73), runs scored (41), stolen bases (10) and total bases (97). Anderson also recorded a team-high four triples on the season and added 10 doubles and two home runs at the lead off spot. Her 73 hits marked back-to-back years with 70 or more hits as she tallied 71 in the previous season. Earlier this season, Anderson had a 19-game hitting streak from Mar. 8 to Apr. 14 and led the team with 22 multi-hit games.
Anderson's strong offensive season helped guide the Pirates to a program-high 16 American Conference wins and the program's first championship game appearance in the American Softball Championship. She earned American Conference First Team honors becoming just the third Pirate to get first team honors from the conference in ECU's 12 seasons as a member while also earned American Conference Honorable Mention once this season. Defensively, Anderson tallied a fielding percentage of .984 with 116 putouts and seven assists in the outfield.
