Millican Leads Golf Championships After Two Rounds

FORT WORTH, TEXAS ? East Carolina's Adrienne Millican recorded a second round four-over par 76 and sits a top the 2004 Conference USA Women's Golf Championships with one round to go. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,197-yard Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
Millican (75-76=151) carries a two stroke advantage into final round action over Tulane's Mary Ellen Jacobs (78-75=153) and a three shot advantage over Lilliana Alvarez (154) and Elly Leonard (154), who sit in a tie for third.
ECU (88-42-1) played the second round a player down as senior Jessica Krasny withdrew from competition with an injury. Freshman Jessica Hauser posted a 13-over par 85 and is tied for 28th, while teammates Margaret Mitchell (84-87=171) and Heidi Helliesen (86-86=172) currently occupy 30th and 31st place.
In the team portion of the tournament, Tulane (629) is in first and carries a four shot lead into the final round over host school, TCU (633). USF dropped 10 stokes on Tuesday posting a second round score of 321 and sits in third place.
Louisville is in fourth place (655) followed by UAB (661), Southern Miss (663), ECU (664), Memphis (692) and Cincinnati (716) in spots five through nine.
"I am extremely proud of Adrienne's play," said head golf coach Kevin Williams. "She has been extremely patient on this difficult golf course. Hopefully she will be able to continue her play and bring home the conference championship."
