
Trio of Softball Pirates Named Second Team All-Conference USA

All three players received all-freshman team honors during their rookie campaigns. Sheridan was a first team all-conference selection and its Freshman of the Year a year ago.
Manuse led Conference USA in doubles this season with a league record-setting 26 two-base hits. She finished second in the league in total bases (115) and RBIs (54). A native of Chantilly, Va., she also ranked among the league leaders in batting average (.374), hits (70), base on balls (35), slugging percentage (.631) and on-base percentage (.474).
Jessup started 64 games during the regular season, including 58 games behind the plate, and ranked third on the team in hitting (.293). She also ranked third on the team in RBIs with 36. Defensively as a catcher, she tossed out nearly 25 percent of would-be base stealers and recorded a fielding percentage of .982.
Sheridan ranked among the conference's top five in nine offensive statistical categories, including base on balls, where she was issued a league-best 42 walks. Her 36 stolen bases ranked as second-most in the conference behind teammate Lacassa Hill . She also collected a team-best 73 hits, which ranked as third-most in the league.
The trio and their teammates begin the quest for the Conference USA Championship on Thursday, May 13 as the league's postseason double-elimination tournament gets underway in Louisville. ECU, seeded sixth, will face third-seeded USF at 1:30 p.m.
