
Men's Tennis Continues Preseason Play at Wolfpack Invitational

Mansell, a sophomore from South Africa, reached the quarterfinals of his bracket, where he fell to NC State junior Val Banada (7-6,6-2). Mansell posted two victories to reach the finals. He took a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Dennis Myers of NC State, and defeated Winthrop's Jorge Padilla (6-3, 6-4).
Baumer, a senior from Brazil, posted a 2-2 mark during the tournament. He won his opening round match against Marc Ladoceur of UNC Greensboro (6-2, 6-4), before falling to Clayton Almeida of Winthrop in the second round, 7-6 (3), 6-2. He then went 1-1 during consolation round competition.
After losing his first match of the tournament, Rose won three straight matches to win his consolation bracket. Rose posted victories over players from NC State, UNC Greensboro and Virginia. Ksiezopolski lost both of his singles matches. One to Ryan Johnson of NC State and the other to UNCG's Lake.
In doubles play, Baumer/Mansell won their opening round match against Ladoceur/Greg Levy of UNC Greensboro (9-7), before losing to Almeida/Bortolat of Winthrop in the quarterfinals (8-2).
The Pirates will continue their fall season Oct. 1-2 as they host the ECU Fall Invitational.
