
ECU's Howell Tied For 25th At Adams Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. - Senior men's golfer Adam Howell (Rocky Mount, N.C.) carded a three over-par 75 in second round action at the 11th Annual Adams Cup of Newport Cleveland Golf Classic on Monday and is currently tied for 25th place with a 36-hole score of 151 (76-75). The tournament is being played at the par-72, 7,160-yard Orchard Course at Newport National Golf Club.
The Pirates (13-15-0) moved up two spots after first round (307) action when they posted a second round score of 305 and are currently tied with Yale and Southeastern Louisiana for ninth place (612).
Michigan State leads the tournament with a 572 (281-291) and Georgia Southern's Jon David Kennedy is the individual leader at 6-under par 138 after firing a pair of 69s. Indiana senior Jeff Overton is in second place, one stroke off the lead at 139 (68-71).
ECU junior Philip Reale, II (Glenville, W. Va.) shot a four-over par 76 in the afternoon round after a 77 in the morning and sits in a tie for 33rd at 153. Freshman Ryan Solan and Martin Nicholls are tied for 39th, just one stroke behind Reale, after recording a 36-hole score of 154.
Final round action will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
