Fonseca Named Men's Tennis Athlete-of-the-Week

Irving, Texas --- East Carolina senior Felipe Foseca has been named Conference USA Men's Tennis Athlete-of-the-Week.
Fonseca posted a 2-0 record in East Carolina's season opener en route to earning his first C-USA Men's Tennis Player-of-the-Week honor this year. The Pirates grabbed their first victory against James Madison (4-1) at the VCU 4x1 Invitational on Jan. 21, after suffering a season opening loss to Winthrop (2-3). Fonseca defeated Carlin Campbell of James Madison in straight sets (6-2, 6-2), and rallied from a set down to defeat Rodrigo Santos of Winthrop (3-6, 7-5, 1-0(5)).
The Pirates take on South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday.
