
Pirate Swimming, Diving Fall at North Carolina

GREENVILLE, NC - The East Carolina Swimming & Diving teams fell to North Carolina in a dual meet at Maurice J. Koury Natatorium Wednesday evening. The ECU men (7-1) lost their first meet of the year, 145-90, while the Lady Pirates fell to 6-2 on the season dropping the match, 139.5-95.5.
"We competed very hard and had some solid times," ECU head coach Rick Kobe said. "North Carolina is a very tough team, probably the best team that we will face this year."
Senior Diane Parker paced the women's team winning the 100 breaststroke (1:05.89) and the 100 butterfly in 57.35. Freshman Megan Pulaski recorded another win the 500 freestyle (5:01.68).
Freshman Christie Icenhower placed second in the one-meter (265.80) diving competition.
On the men's side, senior Casey Cronin won the 200 IM (1:54.90) and the 100 breaststroke (1:00.32).
ECU finishes its regular season Feb. 5 when the Pirates host UNC-Wilmington at 2 p.m.
