Men's Tennis Drops Home Opener To Charleston Southern

Charleston Southern captured all three doubles matches by a trio of 8-6 final scores. Murat Atilla and Lee Schutte defeated the Pirates' No. 1 doubles team of Paulo Baumer and Nick Rose. The Buccaneers' No. 2 doubles tandem of Steven Dean and Jonathan Dean beat the team of Darren Mansell and Henrique Viana, while the Pirates' No. 3 duo of Felipe Fonseca and Robert Stasch lost to Quentin Guichard and Guy David.
The Buccaneers also captured all six singles matches, including five in straight sets. Winners included Guichard at No. 1 singles with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over ECU's Baumer and Jon Dean with a 7-6 (5), 1-6, 1-0 win over Fonseca at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, David downed Mansell, 6-3, 6-2, and Schutte defeated Viana, 6-3, 6-4. Atilla got passed Tremmel at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 6-1 and Steven Dean earned a win at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-4.
East Carolina (1-4) returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 12, with matches at High Point and North Carolina A&T.
