Men's Tennis Falls To Campbell

Cary, N.C. --- Campbell won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to defeat East Carolina, 6-1, at the Cary Tennis Center on Tuesday. The lone singles victory for the Pirates was recorded by senior Felipe Fonseca at flight four by beating Ryan Mills in straight sets (6-3, 6-1).

Paulo Baumer was defeated at No. 1 singles by Jiri Beranek, 6-1, 6-4. Darren Mansell lost at No. 2 singles to Florent Wilpotte 6-2, 6-0. Carlos Campo defeated ECU freshman Henrqiue Viana at No. 3 singles 6-3, 7-6 and Marc Sifre knocked off the Pirates' Florian Tremmel 6-2, 7-5. ECU junior Nick Rose fell to Artoym Starkov at No. 6 singles 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles play, the tandem of Baumer and Rose lost at No. 1 doubles, 8-3, Viana and Mansell fell at No. 2 doubles, 9-7, and Fonseca and Robert Stasch lost at flight three, 8-3.

The Pirates will return to action on Wednesday afternoon at Elon.
