
Men's Tennis Earns Win Over Elon

The Pirates (4-5) iced the doubles point after victories at No. 2 (Darren Mansell and Henrique Viana over Sebastian Bredberg and Kyle Smialek 8-4) and No. 3 (Robert Stasch and Felipe Fonseca over Wilco Moggre and George Memory 8-6). The Phoenix (1-2) received a win at No. 1 when Pramote Malasitt and Austin Fenn dispatched Paulo Baumer and Nick Rose 8-4.
ECU scored five times in singles play as Baumer overcame Malasitt at No. 1 (4-6, 6-1, 6-4), Fonseca downed Moggre at No. 2 (6-3, 6-1), Viana beat Fenn at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1), Rose rallied past Smialek at No. 5 (7-6 (6), 6-4) and Stasch outlasted Brian Edmundson at No. 6 (7-6 (4), 6-4).
Bredberg nailed down a victory for the Phoenix at No. 4, conquering Mansell 6-2, 6-1. This coming Saturday, Elon entertains Wofford in its Southern Conference opener at noon while East Carolina hosts SoCon foe College of Charleston at 1 p.m.
