
ECU Swimming, Diving Make Their Move Headed Into Final Day

Parker won the 100 butterfly (54.58) event and also met her NCAA "B" Standard for this event. Parker's performance in the butterfly set a new pool, meet, and ECU record. She also met her NCAA "B" Standard in the 100 breaststroke swimming a 1:02.91. The 200 medley relay team of Parker, Elizabeth-Claire Moore, Kate Gordon, and Adrienne Williams won their event while also setting a new ECU record.
"We really swam great today," ECU Head Swimming coach Rick Kobe said. "We have put ourselves in position to make a run at the title tommorrow evening."
In men's action, the 200 medley relay team of Josh Barthlow, Cronin, Greg Neville, and Kelly Hendrick set a schol record swimming 1:30.96. Barthlow claimed second-place in the 100 backstroke (49.71) and reset his former record in the 100 back by one-tenth of a second. Matt Donohue set a personal and ECU season best 50.70 in the 100 butterfly which landed him in ninth-place.
In the diving well, freshman Ryan Hunt came in third-place scoring a 454.20 in the three-meter diving event. On the women's side freshman Christie Icenhower placed fourth in the one-meter diving event posting a 249.55.
The final day of the C-USA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship and Men's Invitational begins on Saturday with the preliminary rounds being held in the morning. The top swimmers from the morning session will advance to the finals in the evening session.
