Women's Tennis Splits Two Matches Over Weekend

Greenville, N.C. --- The East Carolina women's tennis team split a pair of matches over the weekend defeating Coastal Carolina, 5-2, on Friday and then fell to No. 9 North Carolina, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon.
East Carolina defeated the Chanticleers in all three doubles matches and won all but two singles matches to give Coastal Carolina their first loss of the season. The Pirates improve to 10-4 with the victory. Mireia Gol won in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-2 to pick up the victory at No. 2 singles, while Raluca Baicu won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Luiza Borges and Alex Smith also picked up wins in the bottom third of the order Friday.
The Pirates will return to action against Winthrop Wednesday March 2, in Rock Hill, S.C.
