PINEHURST, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team posted an opening round of 302 and leads nationally ranked Washington State (No. 25) by one stroke heading into second round action on Monday. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,009-yard Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course.
The Pirates (62-28-1) placed four golfers in the top-21 and are led by sophomore Jessica Hauser (Germanton, N.C.), who currently ranks tied for second after firing a one-over par round of 73.
"I'm really happy for Jessica and the way she played today," said Head Coach Kevin Williams. "The conditions were very tough and there was a lot of wind. Jessica has worked hard all season and it is starting to pay off."
