
ECU Swimming Receives 18 Commitments For 2005-06

The 2005-06 class includes five North Carolina natives in breaststroker Jared Brinkley (New Bern), distance freestyler Greg Connor (Raleigh), sprint freestyler/flyer Amanda Duncan (Wake Forest), distance freestyler Brennan Gaeckle (Charlotte) and sprint freestyler/flyer/backstroker Kelly Swain (Raleigh). Connor, Duncan and Swain each swam for coach Ed Lower at the Raleigh Swim Association.
As a senior at Wake Forest-Rolesville, Duncan took home the state 4-A 100-yard butterfly individual championships.
ECU also added a trio of transfers to its men's team, backstroker/distance freestyler Emre Aydin (University of Wyoming), sprint freestyler/breaststroker Todd Inserra (Lambuth University) and freestyler Bryan Yasinsac (University of Florida). Aydin, a native of Turkey, is one of two swimmers on the squad of international descent as sprint flyer/freestyler Christoph Lubenau is originally from Leipzig, Germany.
Other additions to the men's team include distance freestyler Andrew Phelps (Apopka, Fla.), sprint freestyler/flyer Clint McDavid (Kingsport, Tenn.), and sprint freestyler Erik McVeigh (Windsor, Conn.).
Joining the Lady Pirates along with Duncan, Gaeckle and Swain are distance freestyler Meghan Brosi (Columbia, Md.), breaststroker Morgan Ley (Cherry Hill, N.J.), backstroker/IMer Alli Miller (Orlando, Fla.), breaststroker Adriane Wiltraut (Chester Springs, Pa.), backstroker Katie Moore (Fredricksburg, Va.), and sprint freestyler Betsy Roche (Caldwell, N.J.).
"This is a very talented group of incoming athletes," stated Kobe. "We believe that they will help us continue our tradition of winning dual meets and sending competitors to the NCAA Championships."

Meghan Brosi (Wilde Lake High School)
Swam for the Retriever Aquatic Club in Baltimore under coach Tom Hines ? freestyle swimmer that is expected to compete in sprint, middle distance and distance races ? has Junior National times in freestyle events.
Amanda Duncan (Wake Forest-Rolesville High School)
Swam for the Raleigh Swim Association for coach Ed Lower ? One of the fastest fly swimmers in the state; won the state 2005 4A championship in the 100-yard butterfly ? participated in the 2005 World Games ? reached the US open cut time in sprint fly.
Brennan Gaeckle (South Mecklenburg High School)
Swam for the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club for coach Dave Gibson ? made Junior National times in distance freestyle.
Morgan Ley (Cherry Hill High School East)
Swam for the Burlington county YMCA ? Coached by Bill Sepich ? participated this past year in the YMCA national championship meet in the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke.
Alli Miller (Olympia High School)
Swam for Y-Team Orlando for coach Chuck burgess ? junior national qualifier in sprint/middle distance freestyle, 100 and 200-meter backstroke, and 200-400-meter IM ? sister of former ECU letterman Chris Miller.
Katie Moore (Stafford High School)
Swam for YMCA Stingrays for coach Bob Herlinger ? expected to compete as a backstroker in IM events.
Betsy Roche (James Caldwell High School)
Swam for the Cougar Aquatic Team for coach Judy Montalbano ? expected to compete in sprint freestyle events.
Kelly Swain (Millbrook High School)
Swam for coach Ed Lower at the Raleigh Swim Association ? swims sprint freestyle/backstroke/butterfly events.
Adriane Wiltraut (Dowington East High School)

Native of Ankara, Turkey? swims distance freestyle and 200 backstroke ? posted season-best times in the 200 (1:49.08), 500 (4:47.55), and 1650-yard freestyle (16:17.52), and 200-yard backstroke (1:59.42) at the UNLV Invitational.
