
Pirates Drop 6-0 Match To College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston used a doubles point to quickly fuel five singles wins as the Cougars handed East Carolina a 6-0 non-conference setback Sunday afternoon at the Tennis Center on Patriots Point.
The Cougars captured the doubles tally after a pair of 8-4 victories by tandems Omer Abramovich/Mike Reynolds and Justin Malina/Jimmy Petit over ECU's Nick Rose/Brian Walters and Aleksey Kochetov/Britton Steele, respectively.
The College of Charleston secured the team victory when Or Dekel posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over sophomore Henrique Viana at the No. 1 slot and Marcos Digliodo booked a 6-2, 6-1 triumph against Kochetov at No. 2.
In other results, Rose was outlasted by Abramovich (6-4, 1-6, 7-6) at No. 4, Walters came up short against Reynolds (6-2, 6-2) at No. 5 and Steele was handled by Ashok Ramachandra (6-0, 6-0) at No. 6. The No. 3 flight match, featuring sophomore Ricardo Barone and the Cougars' Malina, was halted at 7-5, 3-0 once the team outcome was determined.
The Pirates (4-3) will return to action Saturday, Feb. 18 when they host Campbell (10:30 a.m.) and North Carolina A&T (4:00 p.m.) for a pair of matches.
