Chrissy Roberts Inducted Into The Eastern Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame

RICHMOND, Ky.-- East Carolina women's basketball assistant coach Chrissy Roberts was inducted into the Eastern Kentucky University Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 12.
The nation's top basketball sharp-shooter in 1997,Roberts starred in her two seasons at Eastern Kentucky University. After transferring from the University of Kentucky, where she spent her first two years, Roberts earned Ohio Valley Conference All-Conference honors in both seasons (1997 and 1998). She earned 1998 OVC Player of the Year honors after leading the league in free throw shooting (89.2 percent) and three-point shooting (45.9 percent).
During her miraculous junior season, Roberts led the country with a 48.8 three-point shooting percentage. She won two national awards that year, the AT&T Long Distance Award and the Edward Seitz Award. Her uniform, practice gear and shoes were enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame because of her accomplishment. Roberts holds the EKU record for most three-pointers in a single season (84 in 1996-97) and career three-point field goal percentage (.475). She is third on the all-time three-point field goals made chart with 151. Roberts is currently an assistant women's basketball coach at East Carolina University.
On December 14, 2005, Eastern Kentucky University announced the creation of an Athletics Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame's mission is to commemorate and honor student-athletes, other individuals and teams whose accomplishments have contributed to the esteemed tradition of Colonel Athletics and whose character has reflected positively on the University.
An extraordinary group of individuals, previously recognized by the University during the 1974 Centennial Athletic Awards Banquet, were inducted into the Hall of Fame on Nov. 3, 2006. This group of 25 is called The Founders. They were joined by an inaugural class of 13 members to make up the 2006 inductees.
The class of 2007 included: Pamela Raglin Andrews (track & field), Ed Bodkin (men's basketball), Donald G. Combs (athletics director, swimming), George Floyd (football), Myron Guyton (football), Aaron Jones (football), John Nganga (track & field), Goebel Ritter (baseball, basketball, golf, track) and Chrissy Roberts (women's basketball).
