GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina diving team opened its season over the weekend by hosting at the ECU Diving Invitational at the Minges Aquatic Center.
The ECU Diving Invitational, unique in form in that divers competed as pairs instead of on their own as in a regular dual meet, featured several North Carolina schools. Seniors Ryan Hunt and Christie Icenhower paired for a third place finish with a score of 292.90. Senior Peter Bradyhouse and junior Matt Larson teamed for a sixth place finish, while the freshmen pair of Josh Gonzalez and Bekah Juarez recorded a seventh place finish.
A diving "shoot-out" followed the diving competition at ECU, as all divers began competing in the first round and were eliminated through six rounds. Icenhower finished first in the women's "shoot-out," with Juarez placing sixth.
Hunt recorded a third place finish in the men's "shoot-out" followed by Bradyhouse in fifth with Gonzalez and Larson coming in seventh and eighth.
