
Men's Swimming Secures 25th Consecutive Non-Losing Season

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- With its 143-94 victory over College of Charleston on Saturday, the East Carolina men's swimming and diving team assured itself of its 25th consecutive non-losing season, carving itself a unique place in school history.
The Pirates have posted five victories this season against just one loss and with only four dual meets remaining, have secured their place in ECU history.
The previous record for most consecutive non-losing seasons by an ECU athletic program was 24 by the baseball program from 1972-95.
The women's swimming and diving squad was also victorious Saturday afternoon with a 164-78 win over CofC to remain undefeated this year with a perfect 6-0 mark.
East Carolina dominated the meet winning 17 of 26 events, including all four diving events and three of four relay races.
Freshmen Thiago Cavalcanti and Jenna Stewart were mutli-individual event winners. Cavalcanti finished first in the 400 and 800 freestyle, while Stewart claimed first place in the 500 and 100 freestyle.
Other individual event winners included: Austine Enderle (200 free), Blake Briese (200 free), Jackie Jones (200 IM), Amanda Duncan (100 fly), Rebecca Perry (100 back), Greg Neville (100 back), Stephanie Harper (100 breast), Christie Icenhower (one and three-meter diving) and Ryan Hunt (one and three-meter diving).
The teams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Chapel Hill to participate in the prestigious Nike Cup.
