GREENVILLE, N.C. - Ryan Daly, the 2007 North Carolina 2A doubles champion, has committed to join the East Carolina men's tennis program in the fall of 2008, according to an announcement by head coach Shawn Heinchon.
Daly is currently ranked as the 12th-highest prospect in North Carolina and 114th in the Southeast by TennisRecruiting.net. A three-star recruit, he compiled an impressive 25-6 combined record against one and two-star recruits. In his sophomore and junior seasons at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, Daly led the Crusaders to consecutive class 2A titles. Over his prep career, he has participated in the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Zone Team Championship and the Southern Closed Championship.
"We are very excited to have Ryan sign with us," Heinchon said. "He has a chance to come in and make an immediate impact for us right away. Ryan has the type of game that will only get better at the college level and we are looking forward to having him be a part of our program."
The Pirates begin their spring season Jan. 18-19 at the VCU Invitational in Richmond, Va.
