
Men's Swimming Concludes Season At C-USA Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Fourteen East Carolina swimmers and one diver recorded a top three finish to earn All-Conference USA honors this past weekend at the 2007 Conference USA Championships, helping the both the men's and women's squads to a third place finish.
The men's 400-medley relay team recorded a second place finish, while setting a varsity record of 3:21.42. The Pirates earned all-conference accolades in five relay races. Bryan Yasinsac, Matt Donohue, Charlie McCanless, Clint McDavid and Jason Guzewich all contributed to the success of the relay teams.
Freshman Kristian Ramkvist achieved all-conference status in the 200-yard breaststroke with an ECU varsity record time of 2:03.11. He also set an ECU freshman record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 57.65.
Greg Neville claimed a pair of top three finishes. He placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (50.22) and 200-yard backstroke (1:51.55) to earn all-conference honors in both events.
Junior Ryan Hunt finished fourth on both the one-meter and three-meter boards.
Junior diver Christie Icenhower earned a pair of top-four finishes, placing second in the three-meter diving competition (291.90) and fourth in the one-meter (256.75). Icenhower has also qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships to held at the University of Georgia beginning March 1.
Senior Kate Gordon recorded an NCAA "B" qualifying time of 55.3 en route to a fourth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. She earned all-conference accolades by placing third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.20).
Freshman Jackie Jones earned all-conference honors in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:26.52 to finish in second place, the highest individual finish by any Lady Pirate swimmer.
Junior Rebecca Perry achieved all-conference status in the 100-yard backstroke with a third place finish (57.23).
Amanda Duncan, Krista Hanson and Katlin Potts also received all-conference honors helping the 400-medley relay team to a second place finish. (3:50.54).
An additional 19 ECU swimmers and divers finished in the top eight of their events with 14 swimmers recording national short course qualifying times.
