Kevin Brandt Commits To ECU Baseball

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Kevin Brandt of Fuquay-Varina High School has committed to play baseball at East Carolina in 2009, head baseball coach Billy Godwin announced today.
Brandt, a left-handed two-way player, has allowed just 24 hits in 40 innings of work with 62 strikeouts, 15 walks and sports a 1.43 ERA.
At the plate, Brandt is batting .528 with 7 home runs, 34 RBI, 13 doubles and has only struck out four times. In 2007 under head coach Milton Senter, Brandt earned Tri-Eight 4A All-Conference honors and was also a Tri-Eight 4A All-Academic selection.
The Pirates (33-13, 8-7) will play host to UAB (19-24, 4-11) starting Friday night for a three-game Conference USA series at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET).
