GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina freshman Seth Maness continued to collect postseason honors Tuesday when he was named Third-Team All-America and First-Team Freshman All-America by Ping!Baseball.
The Pinehurst, N.C. native, who was named Conference USA Freshman-of-the-Year, had one of the best freshman seasons in Pirate history after posting a 9-2 record with a 3.27 ERA and 81 strikeouts with just 20 walks in 98.1 pitched. Maness became just the second freshmen in ECU history to win nine games (Mickey Britt, 1977).
With his Ping!Baseball first-team selection, Maness is the first Pirate freshman to be named to five All-America teams, three of those coming as a freshman. He joins former Pirate greats Cory Scott (2000) and Greg Bunn (2004) as the only players in school history to be selected to five all-america teams in the same season.
