Hey Fellow Pirates,
We are doing something new this season and we're going to try and give you a little inside look on the team and weekly views from us, the student-athletes. I'm looking forward to blogging and hope you enjoy reading it.
We have a whole week of practice under our belts and we have improved as a team since the first day. Establishing and putting in a new offense is not easy but everyone is slowly but surely becoming acquainted with it and learning and adjusting nicely. I'm excited for the season and anxiously waiting for Nov. 13 to tip it off for real, but at the same time we have more work to be done in practice before we are at the level we want to be. We have energy and are all going 90 miles an hour. Now we are just waiting to get on the same page.
We have four freshmen this season and with them, we are loaded at the guard position. All four are working really hard and have been since the beginning of the season. Their work ethic is really encouraging to see as well as their fresh new drive and will to get better. They are taking their time adjusting but when it clicks for them, it's going to be even more fun to be part of this basketball team.
Friday after class and practice we are all going camping for a team retreat. WHAT!?!? Ahh!! Talk about team bonding! We won't have any sort of distractions except for maybe the bears and coyotes scratching on the tent.
Everybody's attitude about camping is questionable, well, except for Coach Baldwin-Tener. She is telling us it'll be more fun than we are anticipating, and I sure hope she's right!!! We need a quick tutorial on building and maintaining a fire so we don't FREEZE at night. Haha!! What an adventure we have ahead of us.
Have a Blessed week!
Go Pirates!
