
ECU Men's Tennis Sweeps Mount Olive, 6-0

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The East Carolina men's tennis squad swept six singles matches in convincing fashion to record a 6-0 non-conference victory over Mount Olive at the Walker Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
The win improved the Pirates' dual match record to 5-1 while the Trojans dropped to 1-1.
ECU's top-seeded singles player, Jaroslav Horvath, set the tone by cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Daniel Mosteaunu while Stephen Whitwell posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 position against Alexandre Queiros.
In other action, Denis Ermilov defeated Frederico Barros (6-4, 6-4) at the No. 3 slot, Aleksey Kochetov handed Murilo Pelegrino a 6-2, 6-3 loss at No. 4, Bryan Oakley rolled to 6-0, 6-1 triumph against Diogo Sender at No. 5 and David Masciorini dismissed Diogo Miranda 6-1, 1-0 (retired due to injury).
Doubles play was cancelled because of cold temperatures.
The Pirates will be back in action Saturday when they return home to face Gardner-Webb in a 2:30 p.m. match at the ECU Tennis Complex.
