Greenville, S.C. -- Senior Markus Leandersson fired an even-par 72 Sunday to lead East Carolina to the team title at the 40th Annual Furman Intercollegiate played at the par-72 Furman University Golf Course. The Pirates carded a 19-over 595 (298-297) and finished one stroke ahead of Furman (301-295=596) and Virginia Tech (297-299=596 for its first team championship since winning the Mid-Pine Intercollegiate in the September, 2007.
Furman's Austin Reeves (79-66=145) established a new course record with a final round 66 and drained a 15-foot birdie putt on the fourth hole of a sudden death playoff against teammate Daniel Bowden to clam individual medalist honors at the 40th Annual Furman Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon.
Leandersson finished tied for fifth place at three-over (75-72=147). Fellow senior Andre Thorsen (75-73-=148) and sophomore Warren Straub (75-73=148) each carded four-over to finish tied for seventh. Freshman Jake Colley fired a nine-over 153 (74-79) to finish in 28th place, while freshman David Watkins completed the 36-hole tournament tied for 35th at 10-over (74-80=154).
