
Walter Earns C-USA All-Academic Honors

IRVING, Texas - East Carolina's Brooke Walter was among three seniors, two juniors and two sophomores who were named to the 2009 Conference USA Women's Tennis All-Academic Team according to an announcement by the league office.
The all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a regular participant on their team.
Walter, a junior who also earned selection to the conference's 2008 squad, owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average as an English major with a minor in psychology. On the court, she tops the Lady Pirates with an 18-2 singles record this spring while teaming with Rocio Cabanillas and Tamara Sachs for a 13-6 doubles mark. The High Point, N.C., native was named to both the Chancellor's and Dean's List and was a chosen to the ECU's Athletics Director's Honor Roll last fall.
Other selections include Houston's Lynley Wasson (Sr., 3.63, consumer sciences), Rice's Julie Chao (Jr., 3.77, economics) and Jessica Jackson (Soph., 3.76, psychology/pre-medicine), SMU's Natalia Bubien (Sr., 3.86, psychology), Tulsa's Thalia Diaz-Barriga (Sr., 3.58, marketing) and UAB's Jenny Cape (Soph., 4.00, biology).
