Greenville, N.C. - The East Carolina men's golf team is set to host the Second-Annual Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate this weekend, April 3-5, at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club.
Joining the host Pirates in the 17-team field will be: Akron, Boston College, Furman, Georgetown, James Madison, Longwood, Navy, Newberry, Presbyterian, Radford, Rhode Island, St. John's, Samford, Seton Hall, UNC Wilmington and Wofford.
Teams are scheduled to tee-off beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Friday with the final group scheduled to tee-off at noon. ECU, playing with Furman and Navy in the first round, will tee-off from the first tee at 9 a.m.
Newberry's Ben Lown will look to repeat as individual medalist. Last year he shared the honors with Keegan Bradley of St. John's as each player carded a six-under par. Bradley helped the Red Storm capture the team tournament title a year ago.
East Carolina finished in fifth place last season with Markus Leandersson earning a share of fourth place.
The second round is set for Saturday with final round play scheduled for Sunday morning.
