GREENVILLE, N.C. - After posting another perfect week, which included wins over Elon, N.C. State and a Conference USA road series sweep of UAB, the East Carolina baseball team has garnered national recognition in all five major polls this week.
The Pirates (25-5, 8-1 C-USA) were tabbed No. 14 by the National Baseball Collegiate Writers Association (NCBWA), No. 15 by Baseball America, No. 16 by the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, No. 21 by Rivals.com and No. 24 by Collegiate Baseball.
ECU's appearance in all five polls is the first since Apr. 2, 2007 and its No. 14 ranking by NCBWA is its highest national ranking since the end of the 2004 season, when they were ranked in the top 15 in four major polls.
The Pirates will be back in action Tuesday, Apr. 7 when they travel to Chapel Hill to face No. 2 North Carolina with a first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. (EDT). ECU will also square off against UNC Wilmington on Apr. 8 at 7 p.m. before playing host to No. 1 Rice in a C-USA showdown between the top two teams in the league.
