GREENVILLE, N.C. - On the heels of a road series win against Houston that kept East Carolina's chances alive for its second regular season Conference USA Championship, the Pirates moved up in four polls this week.
The Pirates (37-15, 14-7 C-USA) were tabbed No. 20 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Baseball America, No. 21 by the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, No. 22 by Rivals.com and remained at No. 30 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll.
This week's rankings marks the longest active streak ranked in at least one poll, 13 consecutive weeks, since the 2004 season when they were ranked 17 straight weeks. Back in 2001, the Pirates were ranked in at least one poll the entire season, which consisted of 19 weeks.
The Pirates will be back in action Tuesday, May 12 when they travel to in-state foe UNC Wilmington for a 7 p.m. (EDT) first pitch before hosting Memphis in its final regular season series, starting Thursday, May 14 at 6 p.m. (EDT).
