Leandersson Named Academic All-District

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina senior golfer Markus Leandersson has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III men's at-large first-team. As a first-team selection, Leandersson will be included on the Academic All-America ballot.
Leandersson posted a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 as a finance major. He was recently selected by the ECU Department of Finance as its Outstanding Senior for 2008-09 after receiving the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for the fourth time.
As a junior, Leandersson was voted second-team All-Academic District and was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team. He was also named a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar a year ago.
On the golf course this season, Leandersson compiled the lowest 18-hole (73.3) and 54-hole (219.4) stroke average on the team as he competed in seven tournaments. He recorded four top 20 finishes, including a fifth-place finish at the Furman Intercollegiate and an eighth-place finish at the C-USA Championships.
