
Pirates Remain Ranked In National Polls

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Following the announcement that East Carolina has earned a No. 1 seed at the Greenville Regional, the Pirates continue their weekly presence in the national polls despite a 1-2 record at the 2009 Conference USA Championships.
The Pirates (42-17) are ranked in the top-20 in all four polls that were release Monday afternoon after being tabbed No. 17 the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, No. 18 by Baseball America and No. 19 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Collegiate Baseball.
This week's rankings marks the longest active streak ranked in at least one poll, 15 consecutive weeks, since the 2004 season when they were ranked 17 straight weeks. Back in 2001, the Pirates were ranked in at least one poll the entire season, which consisted of 19 weeks.
The Pirates will open up regional play this Friday, May 29 at 7 p.m. when they take on Binghamton at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.
