HOLYOKE, MA. - East Carolina's Zach Wright was one of four members of the Holyoke Blue Sox (New England Baseball League) selected to play in the annual Red Sox Draft Class Showcase game at Fenway Park on Thursday, July 2.
Wright, who will be joined by teammates Jim Wood (Trinity College), Jake Rosenbeck (Buffalo) and Mike Nemeth (UConn), is batting .212 (7-for-33) with two doubles, a triple and a pair of RBIs in 12 games played. Behind the plate he has thrown out seven would-be base stealers and picked off another while sporting a .973 fielding percentage.
The game is a place for all of the recently drafted Red Sox talent to showcase their abilities. The Blue Sox are honored to have four of their best play in the game to test their mettle against the future of the Red Sox organization.
"This is such a huge honor to have anyone named to play in this game," Blue Sox COO/GM Barry Wadsworth said. "But to have four of our guys is unbelievable."
