
N.C. State Turns Back Lady Pirates, 6-1

RALEIGH, N.C. – The women’s tennis team drops in-state rivalry to N.C. State. The Wolfpack captured the victory by winning two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
Opening up with doubles play Sandhya Nagaraj and Daria Petrovic roll past Jessica Cook and Audrey LePottier (8-4) at the No.1 position. East Carolina recovers as Petra Vogel and Brooke Walter slip past Ashley Miller and Chloe Smith (7-6). The streak ended at one as Natalie Collins and Yilian Zhang fall to Tana Illova/Diana Mortlock.
N.C. State took an early 4-0 advantage in singles play led by No. 45 ranked Nagaraj who bested LePottier (6-0 6-1). Lenka Hojckova defeated Cook, Petrovic rolled passed Collins and Illova clinched the play after holding off Petra Vogel (6-4, 6-4). At the No.5 spot Walter earned the Pirates only singles victory over Ashley Miller in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 10-7. Smith completed the match with a win over Zhang (ECU); 6-3, 6-1.
With the victory, N.C. State improves to 1-0 while ECU drops to 2-1. East Carolina will travel to Old Dominion for a mid-week matchup on Wednesday Feb 3. at 1:00 p.m.
