
East Carolina Routs Mount Olive, 7-0

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina Men's Tennis extended its winning streak to an impressive six matches Tuesday afternoon with a 7-0 non-conference victory over Mount Olive College at the ECU Tennis Complex.
ECU opened the match by capturing the doubles point against the Trojans, Henrik Skalmerud and Stian Tvedt defeated Luiz Mariano and Alexandre Queiros while Jaroslav Horvath and John Schmitt knocked off Diogo Miranda and Diogo Sender. Freshman duo Pablo Nunez Palmieri and Nathaniel Smiley dismissed Bevan Hewett and Gabriel Santana to complete doubles play with all three matches ending in an 8-4 decision.
East Carolina continued its strong play in the singles competition - using straight set sweeps in all six matches by Stephen Whitwell (No. 1), Horvath (No. 2), Skalmerud (No. 3), Massimo Mannino (No. 4), Bryan Oakley (No. 5) and Ely Khoury (No. 6).
All ten players saw action today. The team out scored their opponent 24-12 in doubles action and 73-22 in singles. ECU improved to 9-1 on the season while Mount Olive dropped to 0-3.
The Pirates will travel to Buies Creek, N.C. on Saturday, February 27 to take on the Camels of Campbell University.
