GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina played enough matches to earn the 6-0 win over Limestone College Friday afternoon at the ECU Tennis Complex despite high wind and rain that started shortly after the start of the match.
ECU improved its spring record to 11-6 while Limestone dropped to 1-10.
The teams played five singles matches, with the Pirates out scoring the Saints 60-6. Audrey LePottier defeated Lauren Bolender 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 slot before Yilian Zhang handed Courtney Guerrieri the same fate at No.2. Abby Richmond defeated Krystal Barker 6-0, 6-1 at No.5 while Natalie Collins earned the match winner for ECU with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Eve Aubry.
Petra Vogel dismissed Jimena Munoz Quiroga 6-1,6-2 at No.5 before Tamara Sachs and Shavannah Stephens began the No.6 singles matchup but rain ended singles play early.
In doubles play, Kristin Gordon and Sheelah Iyengar claimed the 8-3 win over Bolender and Guerrieri at No.2 while Collins and Sachs took an 8-5 victory over Aubry and Munoz Quiroga at No.1 to finish out the match.
The Pirates will be back in action Saturday when they face Charlotte in a 10 a.m. match at the ECU Tennis Complex.
