Tulsa Ends ECU's Season With 4-0 Win

TULSA, Okla. - East Carolina's season came to an end as the Lady Pirates dropped a 4-0 decision to 35th-ranked Tulsa in the quarterfinal round of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship Tournament Friday afternoon at the Case Tennis Center.
Doubles were not played due to unfavorable weather condition and time restraints.
The Golden Hurricanes claimed advanced to the next round with straight-set wins at the No. 1, No.3, No.5 and No.6 positions, respectively. Nationally raked (#78) Alexandra Kichoutkin paced Tulsa with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jessica Cook followed by a 6-0, 6-1 victory by JoAnne Karaitiana over Natalie Collins. Yilian Zhang who had a strong appearance in the pirates first round win put up the best fight winning five games points in her 6-4, 6-1 loss to Rebecca Row.Michelle Farley blanked Abby Richmond 6-0, 6-0 to earn the team victory.
Tournament format policy dictates the stoppage of play once a team clinches its fourth point, the No. 2 and No. 4 matches featuring Petra Vogel Vogel and Audrey LePottier were halted.
The No. 2 seed Tulsa will advance to the semifinals ranked 35th in the nation with a 19-5 record. They will meet No. 3 seed Rice, ranked 41st in the nation, on Saturday. Seventh-seeded ECU closed out its season with an 18-10 record.
